These Marvel superheroes may not be as famous as the Avengers or the X-Men. But the Guardians of the Galaxy, so far, is the most charming of all the action-packed films that Marvel released.
What is it About?
Peter Quill, a human abducted from Earth, lives with space pirates for over two decades until he steals an orb and becomes the object of a relentless man-hunt in space. While running from Ronan, the ambitious villain who is a threat to the universe, Quill meets four misfits. A sure group of oddballs, they become the guardians of the galaxy, protecting it from the dangerous orb.
Who’s In It?
Director and co-writer James Gunn was not just amazing because he turned the lesser-known comic book into a spectacular and truly memorable story in the big screen. His choice of actors for the five different characters which would band together as the Guardians of the Galaxy was also spot-on.
The odd five includes Zoe Saldana as the alien assassin Gamora, former wrestler Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as the very sweet tree humanoid Groot and Bradley Cooper as Rocket the genetically engineered raccoon.
Finally, there’s the charismatic Christ Pratt who plays Peter Quill / Starlord. He got loads of praises from many movie critics who said that his brand of comedy propped the whole movie.
But wait, there’s more. They may not be that recognizable in this movie but some of the most talented A-listers in Hollywood like John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Djimon Hounsou and Benicio del Toro have been casted here too.
If you’re not sure which movie to watch, check online rating sites for movies like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB. Critics from the former site gave Guardians of the Galaxy a whopping 92% while the audience gave it a 95%. Metascore from the latter is a tad lower but still favorable with 76.
The Perfect Soundtrack
The best part of this film aside from the star-studded cast and action packed plot is the soundtrack. All the songs from this film were all good and each has contributed to make the movie even better. Lead character Peter Quill was kidnapped from Earth in the 80s so his music repertoire includes some of the great sounds from the earlier decade.
Songs like Escape (The Pina Colada Song), Come and Get Your Love, Hooked on a Feeling and I Want You Back provides a warm background to the cold setting in space.
With the way fans have raved over the movie, surely a sequel is not far from being conceptualized. Although there’s no confirmation yet, the people behind the Guardians of the Galaxy are probably turning every stones to create Guardians of the Galaxy 2, 3 and even 4 in the near future.
To all those people who have not seen this movie yet, give yourself a break and watch Guardians of the Galaxy. Also, do yourself a favor and buy the official soundtrack, too. It’s truly marvelous and you’ll be able to appreciate the movie even more with a great album on hand.
