A huge zit on your face is a complete confidence-downer especially when you have a date with the man of your dreams – or even with just a hot co-employee you have a crush on. But you need not cancel just because you’re going out of your head thinking about how to hide it.

And because we don’t believe in just wearing a foundation or a concealer, here is a step-by-step process which can help you cover that pesky pimple on that special date.

Wash Your Face Properly. This is a cliché but it is one of the best make-up tips anyone can give you. Try using a mild, non-abrasive cleanser to get rid of the dirt and oil. Wash the soap off with luke-warm water and then gently dab your face with a towel.

Treat the Pimple. Dab the affected area with a topical cream containing Benzoyl Peroxide and / or Salicylic Acid 4 to 5 hours before your date. These are two of the most effective zit removers ever made because these kill the bacteria causing pimples.

Don’t pop the zit. Never attempt even if you really want to. It will grow bigger, redder, and more painful. If you can feel it, you will be more self-conscious. And once you are, he will definitely notice what you’re trying to hide.

Lessen the Swelling and Redness. Visine is a great product that can get rid of the inflammation. Press a cotton-roll soaked with the solution on the blemish for five minutes. While it won’t get rid of the swelling completely, it will be diminished for a few hours.

Moisturize. Moisturizers are made to hold water in the skin so that it is well-hydrated. People should still wear this even if they suffer from blemishes. This, again, is one of those great make-up tips which you should take note of at all times.

In this case, it would be best if you chose non-comedogenic (non-clogging) and hypoallergenic products. The affected part of your skin should also be moisturized to keep it from overdrying.

Foundation and Concealer. Because you have moisturized well, you need not wear heavy foundation. However, you will need to wear a thick, pasty, non-oily concealer one shade darker than your complexion to hide those red zits.

Wear ‘Natural’ Make-Up. Don’t overdo your make-up. Go for a natural look but see that you highlight a part of your face that your date would look at more often. For instance, wear dark eye shadow and line your lids with kohl to accentuate your eyes. You could also put on dark, red lipstick to call attention to your mouth and not to your blemishes.

Pimples do not have a common sense. It does not care whether you have a big date coming; it will appear when it wants to. The best thing to do is learn few handy tips that could lessen its size and redness and save you on your special date.
