Yoga is a kind of discipline which transforms the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of body in a state of relaxation and calmness. It is an example of a wellness program that focuses on the improvement of the body from blood circulation to enhanced bone and muscle flexibility. Although yoga is not a treatment to diseases, it functions as a preventive measure to the attack of sickness and illnesses and a method to relief to certain health issues.

The benefits of yoga is divided into two major aspects; physical and mental. All these are explained below.

Yoga conducts extensive breathing exercises called pranayama. In here, attention is focused specifically on deep breathing which results to improved nasal passages and calming of the central nervous system. Breathing therefore benefits the individual, both mentally and physically.

MENTAL

Yoga is a great reliever to stress because the body goes through prolonged concentration and meditation. In here, stress factors melt down allowing the person experience inner peace and stillness. Females who are unable to conceive due to high stress can use yoga to address the problem of infertility.

Yoga for health conducts a session for meditation where participants are instructed to remain motionless, quiet and still for a long period of time. This brings the mind into a state of calmness.

Yoga is good for individuals who are suffering from sleep disorders, anxiety and other behavioral disorders. It is also an effective intervention to people who are recommended to undergo weight loss programs. The benefits of yoga can be helpful to many people however those with heart problems must consult with a doctor first before engaging in this kind of workout activity.
