Producers of Fast and Furious 7 are laughing on their way to the bank. The movie has been on the top of box office movie charts for 4th consecutive weeks now. The film has also crossed the hallowed $1 billion mark in foreign earnings. Therefore, it is now in the elite group of Avatar and Titanic. Unlike Avatar, which was a unique film at the time, and Titanic, which stood out for romance, as well as settings and photography, Fast and Furious 7 is essentially an action film. Action films are dime a dozen. So what made this film reach these heights of success?

Here are 5 possible reasons for this film being a great hit.

  1. Paul Walker’s Death in a Car Accident

The death of any actor strikes a chord with the fans. But the fact that Paul Walker was only 40 when he died shocked many of his lovers. Even worse was the news that he died in car accident. Walker has become an icon of sorts for youngsters who like to drive fast. His death in an accident was, therefore, unexpected, because of the screen persona. Even those who did not consider themselves as his fan were driven by the need to have a last glimpse of him. The fact that Furious 7 has become fifth largest box office hit proves that people do feel for actors dying before their time. Walker was little over 40 at the time of his death. Perhaps his youngish looks made him popular amongst youngsters.

  1. Last Scene

The last scene of the movie may have been conceived after the death of Paul Walker. It shows Walker and Vin Diesel driving away from each other. The significance of the scene is not lost. It was the director’s way to let people know that Walker is never coming back in Fast and Furious sequels. Selected scenes from previous Fast and Furious movies add to that sentimental moment.

  1. Action and Direction

Action movies are often an outlet for suppressed feelings of injustice. Therefore, people enjoy the villain being punished because they are equating that with their personal needs. Director James Wan has focused on the storyline as well as action scenes. Meticulous attention to detail coupled with high action scenes has enthralled the movie goers. Action movies after this movie will have to improve their action scenes and direction.

  1. Dialogs and Storyline

There are humor and punch in the dialogs of this movie. Many sentences are single lines, but the desired effect is achieved. The storyline has moved from emotionless zone towards sentimentality, as was the need of the occasion. Effectively, the actors seem human and that results in greater rapport with movie goers.

  1. Lack of Better Options

“Fast and Furious 7” was released on April 3, 2015 in the USA. Not many star-studded movies were released at the time. “Avengers” sequel was released in May, 2015. Star-studded movies bring in fans of different actors to the movie. Therefore, fans of Jason Statham and Vin Diesel have joined with fans of Paul Walker to increase the profits of this film. But the lack of decent choice, especially a family film unlike 50 shades of gray, may have also contributed to the film’s success.

The ending of this film is undoubtedly touching. It is hard to think of a better ending for this film, even though there is need to see Paul Walker happy and safe.
